Questions worth asking. Honest answers.
Is Metis medical advice?
No.
Metis is an educational platform grounded in peer-reviewed science and current clinical evidence. Nothing here replaces care from your healthcare team, but we hope it helps you ask better questions and advocate for yourself with greater confidence.
Do I need a science background?
Nope.
One of the goals of Metis is translating complex endocrine science into language that's understandable without oversimplifying it. We believe you deserve the full story, explained clearly.
Is this only for people in perimenopause or menopause?
Not at all.
You are welcome and encouraged if you are in premenopause, perimenopause, and of course postmenopause itself. Partners, friends, family, children*, healthcare professionals, and employers would find the resources and events valuable as well.

*Events in venues that are age appropriate for the child's age.
I'm already on hormone therapy. Is this still relevant?
Yes, 100%.
Hormone therapy is one important piece of the conversation, but it isn't the whole conversation. Understanding sleep, metabolism, body composition, mood, cognition, muscle, cardiovascular health, bone health, and navigating healthcare remain important regardless of which treatment path you choose.
Will Metis tell me whether hormone therapy is right for me?
No.
Those decisions should always be made with a qualified healthcare professional who understands your individual medical history. Metis provides evidence, context, and questions to discuss, not individualized medical recommendations. Metis will help you prepare with the knowledge you need to have a good chat with your healthcare team.
Will you talk about about fat tissue, your research baby?
Fat is one of the most misunderstood organs in the body. (Kind of like women's bodies during perimenopause.)
Fat, or adipose tissue isn't simply where energy is stored. It's an active endocrine organ involved in hormone production, metabolism, inflammation, and many of the changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause. Understanding that biology helps make sense of symptoms that otherwise feel disconnected. If you encourage me, we can definitely go full HAM on the topic, but the workbook and events will be focused on the connections to perimenopause and menopause.

When will the Metis Kairos Workbook be available?
The workbook is currently in development and testing. Barring any major scale-up or printer issues, we hope to have it out for the late fall- early winter. Just in time to hint at someone that you're looking for a gift like this this winter holiday season.
Join the waitlist and you'll be among the first to hear about preorders, launch updates, community events, and companion resources.
Will there be digital versions?
Sort of.
The current premier Metis Kairos Workbook is print only. However, we may include downloadable resources to be released over time.
Can Metis come to my workplace?
You bet we can.
Workplaces is where we spend a great deal of our time and we want to be able to get our work done well. So Metis can hold "lunch and learns" for employees or offer educational programming for organizations interested in supporting employees navigating midlife health. Visit the Workplace Support page to learn more or get in touch.
Are men welcome to participate at events?
They sure are.
While Metis is centered on the experiences of people with ovaries navigating perimenopause and menopause, folks with brovaries (testes) are welcome at many events and are often part of the conversations. Understanding this transition helps partners, colleagues, and leaders show up with more empathy and better support. As the once popular PSA said: "The More You Know."

If you are the brovary type, we can even provide a "perimenopause personality" card during events so you can "play along" to help you understand the experience from a more personal level.
Why 'Metis'?
Because wisdom matters most when it arrives at the right time. The name draws from the Greek goddess Metis, associated with wisdom, practical counsel, and thoughtful action. Combined with Kairos, the right or opportune moment, it reflects the purpose of this project: providing trustworthy knowledge when people need it most. Visit the What is Metis page to learn more.
